THE COMPANY

Founded by Artistic Director Carley Conder in 2003, CONDER/dance is committed to enhancing the cultural vibrancy of its home community in Arizona. CONDER/dance is a resident arts organization of the Tempe Center for the Arts. CONDER/dance also produces Breaking Ground, a notable dance and film festival, at Tempe Center for the Arts. By creating vibrant new works, providing platforms for artists to present innovative voices in dance and building bridges worldwide through international cultural exchange, CONDER/dance's objective is to enlarge the artistic environment that is vital to the cultural fabric of Arizona.

 

DIRECTOR & DANCER BIOGRAPHIES

Carley Conder

Carley is Artistic Director of CONDER/dance, founded in Arizona in 2003. She has concentrated her artistic efforts through creating, teaching, producing and performing in the Phoenix area and nationally. In Arizona, her choreographic work has been performed by CONDER/dance at the Herberger Theater, the Orpheum Theater, Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts, Mesa Arts Center, Phoenix Art Museum, Artel at the Clarendon Hotel, W Hotel and Tempe Center for the Arts.  She is currently a Full-time Faculty for the Herberger Institute for Dance and the Arts at ASU and Adjunct Faculty at Scottsdale Community College. Carley is also invested in an ongoing project, "Flying Solo", where she commissions solo works from choreographers around the country for performance in national venues. She also is committed to bringing Ohad Naharin's movement language Gaga to Arizona, hosting an annual Gaga Workshop each summer in Tempe, Arizona.Carley has been an invited guest artist at Brigham Young University, Snow College, Ballet Yuma, University of Texas - Pan American, University of California – Santa Barbara, Dance New Amsterdam (NYC), Utah Valley University, California State University - Long Beach and the University of Utah. Carley's work has been presented by Chez Bushwick at the Center for Performance Research (Brooklyn), WestFest at the Martha Graham Studios (NYC), Wave Rising at the John Ryan Theater (Brooklyn), and the Cama-i Dance Festival (Alaska). She received her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Ballet and Master of Fine Arts in Modern Dance from the University of Utah.  She has had the pleasure of working with choreographers Steven Koester, Keith Johnson, Eric Handman, Stephanie Nugent, Charlotte Boye-Christensen, Mary Fitzgerald and Ashleigh Leite. She is a current performing member of the California-based company Keith Johnson/Dancers. She was profiled as Phoenix's 100 Creatives by the Phoenix NewTimes. Producing the company’s annual Breaking Ground Festival since 2007 to support local and international artists, Carley has been the recipient of arts grants through the City of Tempe, Arizona Commission on the Arts, Maricopa Center for Learning and Instruction, Target Arts Grants and the Consulate General of Israel. 

 

 

Jordan Daniels

Jordan is a professional dance artist from Phoenix, Arizona. Jordan graduated in May 2014 with his Bachelor’s of Fine Arts degree in Dance Performance from The Meadows School of the Arts at Southern Methodist University in Houston, Texas. Prior to graduation, he trained with Instinct Dancecorps at Scottsdale Community College. While at SMU he performed works by Bill T. Jones, Adam Hougland, Cathy Young, Billy Sigenfeld, Bruce Wood,  Joshua L. Peugh, Danny Buraczeski and Joost Vrouenraets' contemporary “Rite of Spring.” As a choreographer, Jordan has created the works Hand On, Fusion, JPj4, Face Down, see me, and Under Blankets, Body and Heart and All.  His company, JordanDanielsDance, has been presented by the Breaking Ground Dance Festival, Arizona’s Got Dance produced by DAHT, Beta Dance Festival, and ARTEL.  New York appearances include Steps on Broadway Performance Lab, and The Dance Gallery Festival. This is Jordan’s second season with CONDER/dance after a two year hiatus.

   

Danielle Feinberg


Danielle has recently relocated to Arizona from New York City. While in New York, she had the opportunity to perform and choreograph at Chez Bushwick and Triskalion Arts. Danielle has been privileged to study and work with artists such as Mary Fitzgerald, Brad Garner, Ashleigh Leite, and Leanne Schmidt. She is currently enrolled in the Yoga Teacher Training program at the Southwest Institute of Healing Arts. Danielle is thrilled to be a part of CONDER/dance.

   
 

 

   

Stephanie Lebedies


Born in Germany and raised in Utah and Arizona, Stephanie’s early studies began with teacher Truman Finney at the School of Ballet Arizona. At the age of 16, Stephanie moved to NYC become the youngest member of American Contemporary Ballet. Stephanie then attended The Ailey School as a recipient of the “Fellowship Award,” and on scholarship at the Joffrey Ballet School studying under various renowned teachers. Stephanie then danced professionally with the Nashville Ballet. Following her contract with Nashville Ballet, Stephanie chose to move to Vancouver, Canada to study under Artemis Gordon and Lynn Shepard in the Arts Umbrella Company. Stephanie has now settled in Tempe, Arizona, working at Scottsdale Healthcare while dancing for CONDER/dance.

 

Taimy Miranda

Taimy is originally from Havana, Cuba. She graduated from the National School of Modern Dance and Folklore as a Dancer and Professor. Taimy danced with Danza Contemporanea de Cuba and had the opportunity to collaborate with several notable national and international choreographers such as Mats EK, Itzik Galili, Pedro Ruiz, George Céspedes and Osnel Delgado. She has also danced with Malpaso Dance Company where she worked with Ronald K. Brown and Trey McIntyre. She has been featured in festivals such as Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival in Massachusetts, Laguna Dance Festival in California, The Joyce Theater in New York, among others. Taimy danced with Convergence Ballet during this summer in PVCC Center for The Performing Arts, Cazo Dance Company and now is working with CONDER/dance.

   

Joan Rodriguez

Joan is originally from Havana, Cuba. After eight years of study, he graduated from the National School of Ballet in Cuba. Following graduation, he danced professionally with the Danza Abiarta Company and Malpaso Dance. While with Malpaso Dance, he worked under the tutelage of Osnel Delgado, resident choreographer, as well as Trey McIntyre and Ron K. Brown. From 2013 to date, Joan has performed in fifteen cities across the United States. He has danced in theaters and festivals such as the Joyce Theater and Guggenheim Museum in New York and The Jacob’s Pillow Dance Festival in Massachusetts, among others. In Arizona, Joan has danced with Convergence Ballet and is currently working with Mary Fitzgerald Dance Projects and CONDER/dance.

 

Haydehn Tuipulotu

Haydehn started his dance training at Scottsdale Community College in 2011. While at SCC, Haydehn had the opportunity to work with notable dance figures such as Holly Johnston, Bill Evans, Chad Michael Hall, Christopher Dolder, Mike Esperanza, Kathryn Alter, and Phillip Flickinger. In joining Phoenix-based company Scorpius Dance Theatre in 2012, he has performed at The Edinburgh Fringe Festival and trained in aerial silks and trapeze. More recently, he has begun to work with local artists Grace Gallagher, Liz Ann Hewitt and Convergence Ballet Company. This is Haydehn's first season with CONDER/dance.
